…And then there was Covid-19
A little over a month ago our lives all changed dramatically. Our much-anticipated workshop with Melanie MacDonald had to be rescheduled to September and our monthly guild meetings were put on hold. Luckily as quilters this Covid-19 setback kicked us into high gear and just meant more opportunities and time to get in touch with our inner fabric divas and sew, sew, sew. And maybe also use up a little of our stash.
With a request for masks from Windsor Regional Hospital our guild quickly mobilized and went to working sewing. I think some girls were even competing to see who could make the most. On March 28 Val picked up over 75 masks from 4 of our members alone.
Thanks to the following members who have contributed so far: Mary Lou Drake, Maryann Drouillard, Linda Green, Mary Hall-Brooks, Joan Holmes, Julie Isherwood, Donna Jones, Sue Kocela, Jennifer Long, Thelma Richards, Carol Russell, Ann Taner, Sherry Veldhuis, Lorraine Anderson, Corinne Cabana, Jane Drake, Jeanne Dugal, Rena Gilham, Cecile Hockley, Irene Hurajt, Betty Hyatt, Alice Moore, Patty Salvage, Nicole St. Pierre, Juliana Tir, and Val Whitton. We also know that many of our other members are also making masks for friends, family, church members, and others in need, so kudos to them too. A special shout out goes out to Val Whitton who so generously has been purchasing the elastic needed for the masks at her own expense.
